Prologic Avenger 5000 BF Bait Feeder Reel

Stealth Aesthetics, Powerhouse Performance.

If youre looking for a reel that looks as good as it handles, the Prologic Avenger 5000 BF is a top-tier contender. At Gerrys, we love the blacked-out matt finish, but its what is inside the graphite body that really counts. This reel is built with Prologics proprietary Dura Grease and a fixed-gear construction, providing a level of smoothness and durability that is usually reserved for reels twice this price.

The standout feature is the Bite & Fight system. This allows you to transition seamlessly from a free-spool baitrunner modeessential for when a big fish takes offto your pre-set drag in an instant. Whether youre targeting double-figure Carp or hard-fighting River Barbel, the Avenger 5000 BF gives you the control you need to win the battle.

Why Its a Gerrys Favourite:

• Bite & Fight Function: Fully adjustable free-spool system that lets the fish run without resistance until you engage the handle.

• Dura Grease Protection: Unique to Prologic, this grease provides total internal lubrication that resists salt, water, and grit better than standard oils.

• One-Touch Handle: Features a beautiful, classic wooden knob. The handle folds away in secondsperfect for keeping your setup compact in a padded holdall.

• Exceptional Drag: Boasts a massive 11kg Max Drag, giving you the stopping power required to bully fish away from snags.

Where to Use the Avenger 5000 BF

1. Small to Medium Carp Lakes:

The 5000 size is the sweet spot for many UK carp waters. It balances perfectly on 10ft or 12ft rods, providing enough line capacity for distance casting while remaining light enough for stalking.

2. Specimen Barbel Fishing:

On rivers like the Ribble or the Lune, this reel is a dream. The Bait Feeder system is essential for preventing your rod from being pulled off the rests by a violent Barbel take, while the 11kg drag handles the heavy current with ease.

3. Commercial Method Feeder Work:

Because it handles braid and mono equally well thanks to the twist-eliminating line roller, its a great choice for heavy feeder fishing for big commercial match carp.

4. Tench & Bream Specialists:

For anglers targeting specimen Tench in weedy estate lakes, the fixed gear construction provides the winching power needed to lead fish through the lilies.

Gerrys Tip: When setting your Bite & Fight, always adjust the rear tension dial so its just tight enough to hold against the current or wind, but loose enough for a fish to take line without feeling the rod. Its the best way to ensure more hittable runs
